In 2012, we were invited to provide a 1-hour presentation at Calvin College to biology students. This was a great opportunity to educate possible future physicians and nurses on the biology of ME/CFS.
Within a week of listening and asking questions of our president Lori Chapo-Kroger, who is also a former ICU charge nurse, the biology students spent time with the patients in their homes. They listened to the patients describe what the illness is like, and they helped with household tasks the patients needed to have done.
The instructor considered the project a success and said he will be inviting us back to do this again.
